Fifth largest producer of wine in the world with winemaking skills brought by the Spanish who colonised in the 1500’s. Originally credited with quantity over quality the tide has now turned to premium wines with their most renowned export, Malbec, a grape variety hailing from Bordeaux. Cool climates like Patagonia can create sublime Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays reminiscent of Burgundy and generally the country escapes the use of many chemical interventions with insect and fungal attacks being rare due to the climate.
