Gin
All gins start life as a neutral spirit made from grain, wheat, barley or even rice, grapes, corn or beetroot. This base spirit has different characteristics that impact on the end product.
From 11th Century Italian Monks producing a juniper based herbal “medicine”, to the Dutch with their Genever ( leading to the expression “Dutch Courage”); the London Gin Craze of the 17th Century and Bootleggers in Prohibition America; the story of Gin is fascinating and it’s popularity continues to grow, especially in the area of flavoured gins.
