A vibrant cherry-red in colour. On the nose, aromas of plums, vanilla and ripe spice. Very refreshing on the palate with further sweet-edged red berry flavours backed up by an excellent acidity. Refined and refreshing with a crisp yet smooth finish. Great with mackerel stuffed with onions, lemon thyme and breadcrumbs, salmon-roe sushi or sweet & sour duck with cherries.
Chateau Plaisance is to be found at Vacquiers on the left bank of the Tarn river in the Cotes du Frontonnais. The estate is run by father and son team Louis and Marc Penavayre who have seen their holdings grow from 7 to 16 hectares since they began bottling their own wines in 1985 from vineyards situated at the highest point of the Tarn. The estate rose is a blend of Negrette and Syrah with a little Cabernet Franc. It’s crisp acidity pairs particularly well with oily fish or sushi dishes
