Bought in 2000 by an English Pinot Noir fanatic, Felton Road has become a leading light in biodynamic farming in the vineyard and a hands-off approach in the winery. Produced by Felton Road at Cornish Point, an old gold miners settlement where the first large find of gold was made in the Central Otago gold rush. Named after the gold miners who lived there, vines have been planted in this unique location almost totally surrounded by water since 2000.
With the low elevation and proximity to the lake, fruit from the Cornish Point is often picked early in the harvest that results in dense and dark fruit notes with an inviting texture and pronounced secondary notes. A red with great boldness and structure, we recommend pairing this exquisite wine with duck, goose and game birds.
