Description
After six generations of history going back to 1794 the Speck brother’s have turned this farming estate into a successful winery. Responsible for planting some on Canada’s first vines in the 1840’s and becoming a commercial wine estate in the 1980’s. The current generation of Speck’s, three brothers, Paul, Matthew and Daniel along with winemaker Lawrence Buhler produce a wonderful range of wines.
From Niagara’s most premium vineyards, including those shovel planted by the Speck Bros. starting in 1984, their range red wines are aged in a combination of French and American oak resulting in sturdy, bright wines with juicy red to black berry flavours. The heavy clay soils, with their tossed-up limestone, naturally limit the yields per vine and make for wines of intensity and character.

This wine is beautiful. I never knew Canada produced wine, but wow good news! Fruity but refined, depth with lots of blackcurrant. Definitely would buy again. We tried a tasting and immediately bought. Go for it you will enjoy.

This wine comes highly recommended by our local wine bar and they always serve wonderful vintages. I haven’t tried it yet as it’s a Christmas gift to my partner. The service so far however, from thewinebox was super speedy, bottle snugly wrapped and no give away price tags inside. I’m definitely sending it to a few others for Christmas too. Looking forward to sampling it. Will report back after!

I grew up in Ontario & spend time every summer in the Okanagan valley, B. C. – I highly rate the wines from both areas.
I was so pleased to find a Canadian wine on the menu at a recent pub lunch just outside Bath. This Baco Noir is absolutely bursting with flavour, full bodied with a lovely finish. As soon as I got home I went on line to order some from The Wine Box – thank you for bringing this delicious wine to the UK! Highly recommended.
