Tanagra Winery is an idyllic wine farm near McGregor and part of the Robertson Wine Route and Route 62. They produce handcrafted wines in a boutique wine cellar and stylish grappa and eau de vie in our boutique distillery. An old wild fig tree gave the farm its name “Tanagra” – it evokes the Khoisan expression for a well-shaded place. This huge tree covers the historic homestead and vineyard and provides inviting shade on hot summer days. Tanagra is situated in the McGregor/Robertson Valley on the Klein Karoo border (Western Cape, South Africa) surrounded by vineyards, native wild fynbos and mountains. Most of the 78 ha farm is accessible via various hiking and hiking trails (also ideal for mountain biking) with access to the Vrolijkheid nature reserve with longer bird and mountain trails. In the area you can enjoy various activities and seasonal festivals. Tanagra is the ideal place for wine and nature lovers looking for an authentic and tranquil country experience in a naturally elegant and relaxed farm setting – a McGregor farm like home.
