Agrícola Castellana
Agricola Castellana, Vacceos Tempranillo Rosado
A gorgeous raspberry red in colour. A nose packed with red fruits aromas backed up with floral notes of rose petals and cherry blossom. Medium-bodied on the palate with further flavours of raspberries and strawberries. The finish is lingering and clean. A superb barbecue rose! Otherwise try with a vegetable terrine of peppers, aubergines, zucchini and basil, 'chulletillas' (milk-fed lamb chops) with slivers of pimento, or a ripe Manchego sheep's cheese.
The Cooperative Agrícola Castellana is situated in the heart of the Rueda region of Northwest Spain on the outskirts of the town of La Seca, where it was founded in 1935 by a small but dedicated group of ambitious wine-makers led by Fermin Basante Bedoya. Today it consists of some 400 members who cultivate 2,000 hectares of vineyards, with modern equipment for the production of seven million litres of wine per harvest (predominantly white), and facilities for maturing one million of these in oak. It is also the biggest wine producer in Rueda with over 20% of total production. This 100% Tempranillo Rosado is made from young vines and works well with grilled meats.
