Follador Prosecco Treviso Magnum 150cl

£30.00
Country: ItalySuggested Food Pairing: Seafood

A wonderful bouquet with clear fruity and floral notes with a prevalence of green apple and hints of acacia and jasmine. On the palate it is fresh, well-structured and pleasantly persistent.

Perfect for cocktails and aperitifs, fish, shellfish or other kinds of first courses.

The name Follador came from fulling wool, the art of compacting fabric by felting it so it becomes thick and waterproof. The Folladors, who were masters at this craft, had formed an artisan guild in the Bassano del Grappa area and were later called to teach the basics of this art in the Valdobbiadene valley, where they purchased their first land.

By a happy coincidence, in 1769 the Doge Alvise IV Mocenigo tasted the wine produced by Giovanni and his appreciation of its quality was such that he officially acknowledged and awarded its excellence.

In the same year, 1769, the Accademia di Conegliano (Conegliano Academy) was set up and its task was to catalogue the vineyards, their surface area and the quality and quantity of grapes they produced. Just three years later, after one of its meetings, the academic Francesco Maria Malvolti mentioned Prosecco together with Conegliano Valdobbiadene for the first time in volume VIII of the 1772 ‘Giornale d’Italia’. It was the beginning of the Territory.
