Nitida Wine Farm
Nitida Sauvignon Blanc 75cl
Situated in the heart of the Durbanville Wine Valley you will find this family-owned and operated wine cellar. Although not intentionally award-driven, there is no denying the status of Wine of Origin Cape Town, boutique wines. For Nitida, being handmade is more than just a physical process and approach, it is about perfecting the small details along the way while treating each batch of juice with respect throughout its journey from the vine to Nitida wines. It is also about working with nature and thereby ensuring that the wine embodies thier attitude and brand.
“We completely believe that beautiful wines come from day-to-day thoughtful management in the vineyards.” Our bottom line is that to be part of the Nitida family, requires commitment, passion and a desire to be involved.
After the Veller family purchased the smallest of the Durbanville farms in 1990 Bernhard, a qualified engineer, took 2 weeks off work in 1992 to plant some vineyard, planning to only make a few barrels of wine. Three years later they won their first Gold Medal for our Sauvignon Blanc. In 2001 they were recognized as a benchmark Semillon producer. Helgard van Schalkwyk joined us in 2023 as winemaker and has continued the Nitida legacy of creating beautiful, award-winning wines that have a consistently loyal following. Their method is always one of minimal intervention and allowing the wines to show off their micro-climate. Here, handmade is truly an attitude.
Picture a magical sunset over the Okavango Delta, with the sounds of wildlife filling the air. A sip of this Sauvignon blanc is sure to add a splash of colour to end the day in perfection. Tropical aromas of pineapple and guava, along with a slightly sweet Seville Orange note invite you to taste this stunner. On your tongue, these exquisite flavours dance like the rays of the sun, with subtle undertones of white asparagus and fig leaf. Pairs best with another bottle, but definitely elevates Hibachi grilled prawns, served with rocket leaves and pomegranate pearls.
