Who would have thought that viticulture was possible in the Atacama Desert, the driest place on earth? Ventisquero took the risk and it has paid off with this stunningly fresh and juicy Sauvignon Blanc.
Fed by snow-melt water from the Andes, irrigation is just about possible in one of the most inhospitable landscapes in the world. Ventisquero were the first producer to grow grapes via the drip irrigation system, this allows the exact amount of water to reach the vine without any wastage, maximizing the growth of the plant and all important grape berries.
The Huasco Valley is a relatively new D.O within the Atacama region. The Atacama itself is a relatively new region within Chile. And, yet, somehow this wine almost tastes like it could easily be from the old world. Classically fresh, minerally with touches of fresh cut grass, citrus and hints of tropical fruit.
