Vilanau
Vilarnau Organic Cava Brut Reserva Gaudi Print
The team at Vilarnau are passionate about environmental protection and consider nurturing the land from which they make their living part of their DNA. One of the first wineries to be awarded the Wineries for Climate Protection certification, Vilarnau is on a constant quest to reduce its carbon footprint. Energy comes from their biomass boiler, vineyards are irrigated from the rainwater filled lake that surrounds the winery, and suppliers are carefully chosen who fit with their sustainable ethics. Specializing in artisanal production, the much-acclaimed wines they make are now 100% organic.
Close to Spain’s most avant-garde city of Barcelona, the state-of-the-art winery sits amongst vineyards teeming with wildlife. Lying at 250 metres above sea level and shielded by the Montserrat Mountains to the north and the Littoral range to the south, the estate enjoys a Mediterranean climate, and is planted with both international and native varieties. They were the first in the area to plant Pinot Noir but are equally dedicated to preserving lesser known local grapes such as Trepat and Subirat Parent.
This is a cava that is complex on the nose, offering the primary aromas of the
grapes. When you taste the Vilrnau Brut Reserva we want you to be reminded
that it is made from fruit, in this instance from Macabeo, Xarle·lo and Parellada
grapes.
